Savoring Israeli Flavors at Nununu Cafe

Welcome to the vibrant world of Nununu, an Israeli cafe in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach. Nununu offers a culinary experience like no other, blending authenticity with modern flair, and all while maintaining a fully kosher menu. With its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to using only the freshest ingredients, Nununu has become a go-to spot for food enthusiasts of all backgrounds.

One of the standout features of Nununu is its dedication to quality, particularly when it comes to Israeli-style meats. The secret behind their succulent flavors lies in a charcoal-grilled open fire pit, where each cut is expertly prepared to achieve the perfect balance of crispiness and juiciness. This grilling technique elevates their dishes, making them absolutely unforgettable.

The culinary magic at Nununu is the brainchild of the talented Chef Aviv, formerly of the renowned Sami and Susu. Every dish at Nununu is made in-house and prepared fresh to order, ensuring that every bite bursts with flavor and authenticity.

Upon entering Nununu, you'll be greeted by Nona, the manager, whose warmth and hospitality make you feel right at home. Originally from Russia, Nona moved to Israel, where she fell in love with the cuisine. With over 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Nona embodies the essence of Nununu. The name "Nununu" itself is a testament to her nurturing spirit, derived from her endearing phrase "no, no, no," which she used to when her grandchildren would not finish all their food. Nona's commitment to treating customers like family is reflected in her attentiveness to every single customer. She is always there to offer you recommendations and explain menu items.

Nona's family is deeply involved in the business, with her children frequently assisting in serving tables and preparing in the kitchen. This family-driven approach infuses Nununu with a unique sense of care and devotion, making it a place where you can truly savor the warmth of home-cooked meals.

Nununu's menu is a treasure trove of traditional Israeli delights. During our visit, we had the pleasure of indulging in some of their standout dishes. The Grilled Eggplant Chimichuri was a revelation, with perfectly grilled eggplant served warm, drizzled with fresh tahini and topped with a flavorful chimichurri. The hummus, arguably the creamiest we've ever had, was accompanied by warm, freshly baked pita, a match made in culinary heaven.

For those seeking something light and refreshing, the Israeli salad is a must-try, featuring diced tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion, all dressed in fresh olive oil and zesty lemon juice.

A most intriguing item on the menu is their Lebanese-style street burger served in a crispy pita. The crispy pita shell provides a delightful crunch, while the juicy burger inside practically melts in your mouth.

However, Nona's personal recommendation, the Yo-yo Kebab had to be our favorite. This kebab, wrapped in a tortilla and grilled to perfection, delivers a satisfying crunch with each bite. The crispy tortilla forms a pocket for the juicy meat inside. Pair it with their creamy garlic aioli for a burst of flavor.

If your mouth isn't already watering, try it for yourself ASAP. With an extensive menu that offers something for everyone and a staff that treats you like family, Nununu is a gem waiting to be discovered. Come hungry and leave with your belly and your heart full.
