Welcome to Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks: A Slice of Philly in Ybor City

Hey there, food enthusiasts! Today, we're taking you on a mouthwatering journey to Ybor City, where traditional Philly cheesesteaks meet the sunny shores of Florida. Inside the vibrant Ybor City Food Mart, Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks is a hidden gem that's bound to satisfy your cravings. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Deonte, the man behind the counter, who runs the show with immense passion.

Meet Deonte, the heart and soul of Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks. His uncle Mike, is the creator behind Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks. Mike is originally from Southwest Philly, where cheesesteaks are practically a way of life. Even after moving to Florida to be with family, Mike couldn't let go of his dream of bringing authentic cheesesteaks to Tampa. He started experimenting, aiming for the perfect combination of beef, cheese, salt, pepper, and toppings. And thus, Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks was born. Located inside the Ybor City Food Mart, Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks benefits from its prime spot. However, Mikeeo's actually started as a food truck. The transition into a brick and mortar was aimed at expansion, bringing the flavors of Philly to a wider audience. And expand they did, capturing the hearts (and taste buds) of locals and tourists alike. Now, you can not only savor their mouthwatering cheesesteaks but also complement your meal with an array of goodies available in the mart. Pair your cheesesteak with a refreshing drink and a crunchy side – a match made in foodie heaven!

While Mike's favorite is his classic cheesesteak, the menu at Mikeeo's boasts nearly 15 variations and the option to build your own. Inspired by the spirit of Philly, these variations come with a twist, each named after iconic personalities like the 'Rocky,' 'Chase,' 'Sixers,' and 'Kobe Bryant.' This creative touch adds a unique flair to the menu, making every visit an adventure. When I asked Deonte about his advice for fellow restaurant owners, his words resonated deeply:

"Stay consistent and be interactive with your customers. Never focus on the money first."

So, food lovers, if you find yourself in Ybor City, make sure to swing by Mikeeo's Cheesesteaks. Whether you're a Philly native missing the taste of home or a local foodie looking for a unique culinary experience, this spot is a must-visit. Prepare your taste buds for a journey to the heart of Philadelphia, right here in sunny Florida. Stay hungry, stay curious, and happy eating!
